Role:
The Behavior Counselor has the responsibility to carry out rehabilitation, supportive functions
and hands on behavioral intervention training with the consumers; education, support and
consultation to families/caregivers; crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of the
Senior Behavior Counselor and the Program Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of the comprehensive assessment of consumers.
- Consult with community agencies and families to maintain and coordinate the
- treatment process.
- Provide hands on intervention with consumer and their caregiver/family to reduce unwanted behaviors and increase positive and adaptive behaviors.
- Provide crisis intervention and consultation under the direction of the Senior Behavior Counselor and the Program Director.
- Document consumer progress to maintain a permanent record on each consumer according to the individual treatment plan and agency policy and procedures.
- Provide ongoing assessment of consumer's progress towards behavioral goals.
- Provide direct behavioral and counseling services to consumers on an individual, group and family based, community setting to teach behavioral change methods.
- Provide side-by-side services, skill training, supervision and environmental adaptations to assist consumers, their families/caregiver with the activities of daily living.
- Assist and support consumers to develop skills to carry out personal hygiene and grooming tasks and related functional skills.
- Assist families/caregivers to develop and implement positive behavioral change plans and individual behavioral intervention plans for the consumer.
- Provide side-by-side support and coaching to help consumers socialize and general behavioral change skills and increase age-appropriate social experiences.
- Support behavior shaping and reinforcement strategies as described in each consumers individualized service plan.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Behavioral Science
- Paid experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- DOJ fingerprint/background clearance
- Possession of a valid CA driver’s license.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) has the responsibility to provide behavioral support, light housekeeping, cooking, assisting with medication, assisting with completion of daily living skills including grooming and hygiene.
Requirements:
- Paid experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- DOJ fingerprint/background clearance
- High school completion or equivalent
- Possession of a valid CA driver’s license
